Stroom School is the umbrella term for the side program accompanying exhibitions. In the Stroom School, the themes are highlighted and more profoundly explored. The Stroom School around Orban Space: Luc Deleu - T.O.P. office includes guided tours of the exhibition, lectures and workshops. Survey Stroom School activities.
The artist Céline Condorelli is the creator of one of the most extraordinary publications of the past few years, about a subject that is so obvious it's sometimes even invisible, and one fails to notice how special it is. The title of the book is Support Structures and is a manual for things that support, encourage, give comfort, take care, appreciate. The notion of support also plays an important role in Condorelli's own work, as the subject of research and also literally in the design of (exhibition) elements that provide a platform for others to show their work.
Condorelli's lecture at Stroom is entitled Doing and Thinking and is part of the side program accompanying the exhibition Orban Space: Luc Deleu - T.O.P. office. Like Deleu, Condorelli's work is related to both art and architecture and she is very much concerned with the public domain and forms of communality. Her work takes many forms, from installations, exhibitions and a political stance, to fiction, works in public space or sound works. Wouter Davidts, curator of the exhibition and the editor of the publication Luc Deleu - T.O.P. office: Orban Space (publisher: Valiz, book and cultural projecs) will introduce her and talk with her after the lecture.
Condorelli co-founded the artists' initiative Eastside Projects in Birmingham together with Gavin Wade; she teaches at various institutions and is a professor at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. Recent exhibitions include Additionals (Pavilion, Leeds, 2013), The Parliament, Archive of Disobedience (Umeå Bildmuseet, SE), Social Fabric (Iniva, London and Lund Konsthall, SE), and Surrounded by the Uninhabitable (SALT Istanbul, 2011-'12).
