Visual Arts
The department of visual arts of Stroom Den Haag is dedicated to the
organisation of exhibitions. lectures and other activities and the implementation of a so-called stimulating policy to strengthen The Hague's artistic climate and increase its visibility.
Other activities include the presentation of two special awards:
The Ouborg Award, named after the artist Pieter Ouborg (1893-1956) from The Hague, is a municipal award for visual arts awarded (approximately every four years) to an artist from The Hague, and consists of a sum of money, a presentation in the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag and a publication made by Stroom.
The annual Aanmoedigingsprijs is given by Stroom to selected students as a special incentive upon their graduation from the Royal Academy in The Hague.
