Stroom Den Haag implements a so-called stimulating policy to strengthen The Hague's artistic climate and increase its visibility. In this field Stroom acts both as initiator, intermediary, advisor and talent developer. This results in a stimulating policy aimed at talent development, the strenghtening of the artistic practice, visibility and excellence.

Funding / subsidies

Stroom Den Haag's grant scheme takes the specific strengths and considerable potential of The Hague's art scene as its point of departure. The scheme is driven by two main motives. In the first place, the wish to strengthen the local artistic climate - primarily through the encouragement of research and in-depth exploration, international exchange and the retention of recent art school graduates for the city. In the second place, the wish to increase the visibility of The Hague's art scene and artists. In doing so, Stroom is advised by an independent advisory committee.

Stimulating policy
Stroom Den Haag implements a stimulating policy for artists with a professional practice in The Hague. In addition to offering the necessary information and giving artists advice on their artistic practice, Stroom also organizes a.o. presentations like Ondertussen and OpZicht; publications; information meetings; round table discussions; Stroom Invest conferences; occasional presentations at art fairs in The Netherlands and abroad; and a visiting curators program. >> read more

Stroom Den Haag maintains an extensive online database of about 900 professional artists who live and work in The Hague and who are regstered at Stroom.

Studios
Stroom Den Haag has a studio program aimed at professional artists from The Hague. There are both permanent and temporary studios available. Artist can consult a regularly updated list of available studios (only in Dutch).
Stroom strives for a suitable and affordable studio for every visual artist in The Hague. Stroom dedicates itself to increase the number of studios and to mediate with regard to contracts of hire and sale. Together with artist initiatives and the City of The Hague Stroom actively looks for premises which may provide artists with a laboratory, meeting place and presentation function. >> read more
