Stroom Den Haag is dit jaar de locatie van de finale van de Bio Art & Design Award (BAD Award) competitie. Vanaf 14:30 uur pitchen bij Stroom tien teams van jonge kunstenaars/ontwerpers hun nog te realiseren kunstproject op het gebied van biokunst en -design voor jury, pers en publiek. Aansluitend maakt juryvoorzitter William Myers (curator en schrijver) de drie winnaars bekend. Zij krijgen elk 25.000 euro om hun idee uit te voeren. Bij de uitvoering van elk BAD Award project is een Nederlandse biowetenschapper nauw betrokken.

PROGRAM:
14.30 hrs: doors open

15.00-15.15 hrs: Welcome by Wilma van Donselaar (ZonMw) and Angelique Spaninks (MU Artspace). A short explanation about the background of the competition, the preselection and what will happen after an artist/designer wins.

15.15-16.00 hrs: Viewing of thedocumentary "Talking Plants & Morning Urine" (a documentary about the collaboration between artists & scientists in this competition. Made by Bromet&dochters and commissioned by CSG Centre for Society and the Life Sciences) .

16.00-16.40 hrs: Public pitches by all contestants about their proposed projects (3 minutes each).

The Bio Art & Design Award is an encouragement for young artists and designers to explore the boundaries of art and science in collaboration with life scientists. The BAD Award is an initiative of NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) and ZonMw (Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development), Eindhoven University of Technology, Waag Society, kunstruimte MU and BioArt Laboratories in Eindhoven.
