Afra Eisma, 2022

Dalton Kind Centrum Helen Parkhurst, Baambruggestraat 2-4, The Hague

Location: Dalton Kind Centrum Helen Parkhurst, Baambruggestraat 2-4, The Hague
Unveiled: 7 July 2022

Artist Afra Eisma has emphatically involved the schoolchildren in the new artwork for Dalton Kind Centrum Helen Parkhurst. Together with Studio Dicky, she gave drawing and painting workshops. These workshops resulted in hundreds of drawings which formed the inspiration for a large tapestry made of wool.

The tapestry, which hangs above the staircase to the second floor, features many strange animals and merges the fantasy worlds of the artist and the children.

To the cheers of all the schoolchildren, the work was unveiled on 7 July 2022.
"What do you guys think of the artwork?" asked the teacher.
"BEAUTIFUL!" the children shouted in chorus, pointing to the creatures they had made up themselves.
The artwork has thus become an integral part of the school and the sum of the creative energy of everyone involved.
