Elementary school Onze Wereld, Brandtstraat 87, Den Haag

Elementary school Onze Wereld in the borough of Transvaal asked for a partition between the schoolyard and the gardens and rears of the neighboring houses. The artist and designer Evelien van Vugt designed a 32-meter-long and 2-meter-high aluminium fence with a photograph depicting the rear facades of the top floors of the neighboring houses. When one looks at the fence from a distance, one experiences a kind of redoubling of reality. In the future, when the whole street will be torn down and new houses will be built, the fence will function as a memory of how things used to be.
