'Zo verkruimelt het koekje' (That's the way the cookie crumbles) is an art project by Babette Wagenvoort for the new building of elementary school 'De Buutplaats' in The Hague.

On the website www.nieuwenederlandsespreekwoorden.nl she collected proverbs from all over the world, which one day could become new Dutch proverbs.

She ended up with a list of 117 proverbs from more than 20 different languages, which she illustrated in red and white on approximately 40 enamel plates. These plates are shown all over the school building.
