During the Uncertainty Seminars we look at the world around us in an intuitive and unconventional way. During There, There, the concept of distance takes center stage: physically, figuratively and metaphorically. Artists to be announced.

The title of this edition is derived from the words "There is no there, there...." by the writer Gertrude Stein when she learned that the neighborhood where she had been brought up had been replaced by an industrial park. What had been engrained in her memory no longer existed. The title describes the distance between memory, experience and the present. The pandemic has forced us to think more about the concept of distance.
Artists have been doing this for some time now. They play with representations such as fictional cartography or other forms of mapping to show the world in a different way.

We cordially invite you to discover the Uncertainty Seminars.

On Friday 8 October, we will embark on a walking tour of The Hague..

On Saturday 9 October, Stroom will host various contributions from artists and speakers. The event can also be followed online via a live stream. Afterwards, during Museum Night The Hague, there is a special film program with work by artists from The Hague centered around the theme of distance.
