Evelien Gransjean uses tape, fishing wire, glass, coversheets, paper and found objects to create her installations and photographic works. She uses these 'meaningless' and 'worthless' materials to create a new environment, in an existing place or in reference to a specific space.

Gransjean's presentation at Stroom features three works:

Changing the Lights consist of a reading lamp. A reading light illuminates an object like a photo book, a novel or a newspaper, enabling the reader to see more clearly. The illuminated object makes the surrounding area less clear, focusing the reader's attention on what he or she wants to see. Mentally you enter a new world, where you can dream. As long as you look at the object, you are in this special space of your own choice. The reading lamp in Changing the Lights is deprived of its light, but you the viewer can revive it.

The curved plate entitled Lost and Found reflects the space and also shows the reflection of the viewer, both distorted and multiplied. Because of the size of the plate Lost and Found can only be experienced by one person at a time.

A fly under a dome on the world in the universe. This fly symbolizes the world population, De Mens in het Heelal.

Both Changing the Lights and Lost and Found and De Mens in het Heelal invite the audience to return to a basic state of being.
