On Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 September, curator Bérénice Saliou will be visiting artists' studios in The Hague.

Registration
You can register for a studio visit with Bérénice Saliou until Sunday, 26 July 2026 via this link. As part of your application, we ask you to provide a short motivation (in English!), your availability, and links to your personal website and your artist profile on www.thehagueartists.nl Based on these applications, the curator will make her own selection of the artists she wishes to visit, potentially supplemented by recommendations from Stroom. Stroom will then draw up the visit schedule and inform the selected artists about their participation.

About Bérénice Saliou
Bérénice Saliou is a curator and a member of the International Organisation of Arts Critics (AICA) and the French Curators’ Organisation (C-E-A). After earning a master’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of Provence Aix-Marseille, a master's degree in Cultural Management from the University of Lille 3, and a master's degree in Curating from Goldsmiths College in London, she co-founded the Trankat artist residency in the medina of Tetouan (Morocco) with artist Younès Rahmoun, which she directed from 2010 to 2015. From 2015 to 2022, she was the artistic director of the Institute of Islamic Cultures (ICI), an artistic institution affiliated with the city of Paris. By organizing exhibitions, producing artworks and projects (including monumental and public space works), programming numerous multidisciplinary events, and implementing artistic and cultural education programs, she contributed to creating a space of expression and visibility for artists from the so-called Global South.

Particularly motivated by issues of transmission, mediation, and interdisciplinarity, she has worked for fifteen years to promote artists’ visibility, from a decentralized perspective. She has thus accompanied the production of works by Bertille Bak, Sabrina Belouaar, Tarek Benaoum, Yane Cavlovski, Jordi Colomer, gethan&myles, Chourouk Hriech, Mehdi-Georges Lahlou, Katia Kameli, Smaïl Kanouté, Hervé Yamguen and Hervé Youmbi, Salifou Lindou, Maryanto, Randa Maroufi, Ruangrupa, Josefa Ntjam, Sara Ouhaddou, Moussa Sarr, Laetitia Tura or Hossein Valamanesh, among others... In this context, in 2022, she co-curated the inaugural exhibition of Fondation H in Madagascar, dedicated to the Malagasy artist Zoarinivo Razakaratrimo known as Madame Zo, with Prof. Dr. Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung.

From 2022 to 2025, she directed Documents d’artistes La Réunion where she affirmed an editorial line conceived as a tool for visibility, dissemination and support for the island’s artists, with the perspective of developing the association on an Indian Ocean scale. In May 2025, she took over as director of the Frac Champagne-Ardenne, where she is deploying an artistic and cultural project entitled Poetics of Attention.

About the studio visit programme
Stroom regularly invites curators, artists, and critics from the Netherlands and abroad to conduct studio visits with artists from The Hague who are registered with Stroom. The studio visit offers artists the opportunity to present their work and provides a setting for constructive critical reflection in conversation with an art professional. In this context, it also helps to raise awareness of the artists’ work.
