A historic day for The Hague

Last Monday, June 30, the Monument Transatlantic Slavery History was unveiled on the Lange Voorhout, during the third official commemoration of slavery in The Hague. Mayor Van Zanen, Alderman Vavier and Lilian Callender of the June 30-July 1 The Hague Committee were present. The monument is a powerful symbol embraced by descendants and residents of the city.

The work Remember Our United Beginning by artist Buhlebezwe Siwani was warmly welcomed – carried by words of strength, unity, and connection. With this monument, The Hague now has a permanent place to remember and honor the enslaved of transatlantic slavery.

We are proud that as advisors we were able to contribute to the realization of this meaningful work. Thank you to all the partners and stakeholders with whom we have worked over the past period!
