Mediamatic was founded in 1983 as a meeting place for television and video artists, intellectuals and scientists. It soon gave birth to Mediamatic Magazine: a magazine about media, art and television that was published internationally and gained legendary status in new media circles. Starting in 1994, an autonomous work of art appeared with each issue in the form of a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM. Mediamatic published paper magazines from 1985 to 1999. The magazine was a platform for discussions about media, art and television. With Mediamatic Off-line, Mediamatic continued to publish CD-ROM collections and DVD projects irregularly after the last paper magazine.
