Visitor guide accompanying ArchiLab2001. From 1999 through 2008, the anually organized Archilab in Orléans functioned as an international meetingpoint for forward-looking architecture, focusing on challenges to architectural praxis. ArchiLab2001 curated by Marie-Ange Brayer and Béatrice Simonot focused on the issue of housing with questions like What does housing mean? How are architects proposing and responding to new forms of housing and inhabiting? So as to offer a very broad raft of approaches, 90 housing projects designed by 90 different teams were on view. Apart from one or two names from earlier generations, it were mostly young architects, hailing from 18 countries, who presented their research.
