‘Healing The Museum’ is a monograph looking at Grace Ndiritu’s diverse practice over the last twenty years, coinciding with her eponymous exhibition at S.M.A.K(Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst), Ghent. In the run-up to the construction of a new museum, Ndiritu worked with all employees and the public around a “Spiritual Inventory of A 21st Century Museum” developing thoughts about the interpretation of the museum of the future. Under the title ‘Healing The Museum’, SMAK presented an overview of the artist’s varied practice in recent years (Apr.1 -Sep. 10 2023). Performance, film, shamanism, social actions, publications, textile work, collection research were part of this layered exhibition project in which the artist advocates revitalizing and making ethical the museum space and, by extension, society as a whole.
