This booklet is a transcript, revised for print, of a performative lecture by Dimitri Nieuwenhuizen and Marijke Cobbenhagen about the subjective processes that lead to the inception of inspiration, held in the context of Zefir7, the monthly Designers Café at Stroom Den Haag i.c.w. BNO Kring Groot Den Haag, 16 Oct 2016. An idea comes, and you see it and you hear it and you know it. But how does it come? Nieuwenhuizen (1971-2017) was a visual philosopher in art, design and technology. He was co-owner of design studio LUST and the research-based art and technology laboratory LUSTlab, both based in The Hague. Cobbenhagen is designer of dialogue and researcher, initiator, curator and educator in the field of art and design.
