Created by the Rietveld Academy’s Garden Department, Almanac #1 is a serial publication thats contents focus on the regeneration of soil, the community, the history of the Rietveld garden and the importance of process within a creative practice. Almanac #1 is completely compostable – it has been silk screen printed with plant based inks on biodegradable paper. The Garden Department began a year ago in the form of a self-organised, gardening initiative on the campus of the Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Instituut, open for all students and staff. The department organizes all sorts of projects like a Permaculture course and monthly events covering themes such as queer ecology, trauma-informed landscape design and medicinals for healing, social justice and climate change.
