On the occasion of Alexander Kluge's 85th birthday, the Museum Folkwang organized a comprehensive exhibition of the filmmaker, author and artist. The exhibition introduced his artistic 'pluriversum' and aims to illustrate Kluge's central methods, themes and ways of thinking. The focus is on his filmic collages. Alexander Kluge- Pluriversum”, Museum Folkwang, Essen (September 15, 2017 to January 7, 2018 and in the 21er Haus in Vienna from February to April 2018). With the exhibition, Kluge wanted the visitor to make his own associations. Walking through his 'Pluriversum' was then editing the real life version of a film. Kluge supplied the material. From the archive of his life. The viewer makes the choices. Determines the duration. The associations. Gives it meaning.
