Folder with PR materials and articles related to Christian Nyampeta (). The artist first arrived in The Netherlands in 1999 as a solitary 16-year-old from Rwanda. Nyampeta graduated as an industrial designer, but has since become a visual artist whose work investigates the lemmas in Roland Barthes' 1977 lecture 'Comment vivre ensemble' (How to live together). As part of the Stroom program See You in The Hague, Christian Nyampeta was invited to do a project. The artist used Stroom as a base to address urgent themes like reconciliation and forgiveness in the light of genocide, social and cultural conflict, language and translation, sociability and loneliness. His personal background and history, his drive, commitment and artistic vision will push these themes beyond the bounds of theory, and make them both physical and tactile. The focus was not solely on reconciliation in Rwanda, but also extended to a discussion of how to live together with people from other cultures in The Netherlands.
