French installation artist Daniel Buren (born 1938) is known for his large-scale works. The fact that he also works with photography is far less well known. Above all, he has been traveling around the globe as a hunter and collector of existing images since the 1950s. His “memory photos,” pictures taken without any particular intention, now form a vast archive of around 400,000 photos.
