In cultural planning, special significance is attached to culture and cultural history when organizing and organizing space. The concept was introduced in the Culture Memorandum 2001-2004 and since then a number of projects have been launched in the Netherlands to more explicitly involve cultural history in the spatial planning process. Special attention is paid to the history of a place, to monuments present in an area, to local traditions and to the stories of residents about the cultural landscape.
