WV 2000
The role of the visual arts in a new neighborhood in The Hague, Wateringse VeldDate: 29 June - 17 August 1996
In order to show the various ideas that were developed for the Vinex location at Wateringse Veld, we put together WV 2000, a presentation of documentation. The architect Floris le Conge Kleyn, who designed the presentation, was inspired by the office environment in the film ‘Play Time' by Jacques Tati. The artists Erick de Lyon, Reinier Tweebeeke, herman de vries and Q.S. Serafijn showed in separate compartments respectively their computer animations of the Bovendijk (de Lyon), the potential of kinetic and adjustably lit street lamps (Tweebeeke), the indication of varieties of trees by street (de vries) and a video report of talks between artists, philosophers and media specialists (Q.S. Serafijn). Ton van Kints, Cary Markerink and Marjan Schoenmakers showed the photographic documentation that they had made of the existing area in similar spaces. Simultaneously, all parties involved with the realization of this new neighborhood, together with the Ontwikkelingscombinatie Wateringse Veld, were represented.
