Wandering through the city can be understood as gathering data. How can these personal experiences be shared with others, and how can we find the common denominator between different collections? The city of The Hague is the given, the routes are the system, and the participant is the unexpected personal factor in the system.
This Stroom Travel is a quest for the aesthetics of a computer system through an exploration of the public space of the city. The system is fixed, but the parameters are determined by the personal visions and preferences of the participants in this Travel. Under the guidance of several tour leaders from <>TAG, except for Karin Mientjes and Aaron Koblin, the leaders are Hicham Khalidi, Keir Neuringer (USA), and Daniel Patijn – each group of participants determines their own unpredictable route within the system. After completing the various routes, all findings from each group are collected and mapped during the dinner. This map will offer insight into the personal elements of each route. View the same system from different perspectives and gain a different experience of the city and the system.
The Stroom Travel 'Information Aesthetics' is part of the 'After Neurath' event, organized across the period 2006-2008.
