Open studio: self-portrait as a building

Date: 11 December - 24 December 1992

Mark Manders (1968): "Self-Portrait as a Building" is a materialization of my inner world. The things that surround me in this building feel entirely accurate, important, and never absurd. I present Self-Portrait as a Building as a comparison, open to others. The word ‘comparison’ is key in this. I actually began work on Self-Portrait as a Building in 1986, though at the time it was called Inhabited for the Sake of Clarity."

OPEN STUDIO
The starting point for this series was artists working on the border between visual art and another discipline. They gave explanations of their work. These evenings were well attended and sparked lively discussions.
In addition to speaking about their work, the invited artists also presented a two-week exhibition in the Bovenkamer (Upper Room).
