Stichting NDSM-werf is organising an international conference on temporary art in public space. Partner for this event is Stroom Den Haag. The program focuses on collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strengthening international networks, with special attention to the role of temporary artworks in public space, sustainability, and the preservation of site-specific art.
On 6 November there will be a public program open to students, professionals, policymakers, and artists, focusing on knowledge exchange through presentations and discussions. The conference brings together curators of biennials and triennials, directors of platforms and institutions, and artists to discuss the potential and challenges of temporary art projects in public space.
Representing Stroom, Alexandra Landré will join as a speaker. She will share insights on rethinking how institutions work with art and public space. Drawing on her experience activating public art collections, she will discuss what "future-proof commissioning" could mean for temporary and permanent artworks.
Other contributors are a.o. Alistair Upton, director of Folkestone Triennial (UK); Malene Natascha Ratcliffe, director of MAPS – Museum of Art in Public Spaces (DK); Damir Stojnic, director Industrial Art Biennial (HR); the COLAB (UK); Samuel Saelemakers, curator of Antwerp Public Art Collection – Middelheim Museum (BE); Ulrika Flink & Helen Rixrunting, curators of Bruges Triennial (BE); Christina Li, curator (NL); Marianne Wagner, curator of LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur (DE); as well as Afaina de Jong (NL); Studio Ossidiana (IT/NL); Lily van der Stokker (NL); and Holly Hendry (UK).
