Greenspotting Haaglanden
Date: 29 September - 12 October 2008
Greenspotting Haaglanden is an event that explores the dynamic relationship between city and countryside and the importance of green space for The Hague. It takes place within the framework of the European research project PLUREL (Peri-urban Land Use Relationships). PLUREL focuses on the sustainable transformation of green areas in metropolitan regions across Europe, including Haaglanden. An exhibition, a catalogue, and the Stroom Travel tour make the dynamic urban environment of The Hague visible and tangible. The debate and the design workshop address the competitive strength of the Haaglanden region. An information leaflet about the entire event is available at Stroom Den Haag.
The program is curated by Stroom Den Haag, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (Wageningen UR), and DJSA Architecture & Interior, in collaboration with Alterra Wageningen and the Haaglanden Urban Region.

Stroom Travel 'Polemic Places'

An adventurous journey by bike and boat through the fringes of The Hague.
Greenspotting Haaglanden is part of the series The Image of the City, through which Stroom reveals and explores hidden aspects of familiar images of The Hague. In June, the presence of politics and power was highlighted in We rule this city!, which included visits to the city's secret backrooms. During Greenspotting Haaglanden, a new perspective on green space in the city and region takes center stage. In November, a program will follow focusing on densification and housing in The Hague. As part of "The Image of the City", photographer Ralph Kämena and graphic designer Minke Themans are creating three images of the city that will be displayed in Stroom's window starting this autumn.
This program is made possible in part thanks to financial support from the Architecture Stimulus Fund and housing corporation Staedion.
