Barendsz & Van Noordt
Open atelierDate: 16 October - 29 October 1992
Gray Matter was a multidisciplinary theater production by Barendsz & Van Noordt (1962), in collaboration with composer Gene Carl and choreographer Thom Stuart. The production was based on the book The Man with a Shattered World by A.R. Luria, which describes the inner world of a man with severe brain damage. The installation consisted of a monitor displaying a video of a dancer, a suspended vitrine containing a photograph filled with flies, and a cloth featuring a nude figure.
OPEN STUDIO
The starting point for this series was artists working at the intersection of visual art and another discipline. They provided commentary on their work. These evenings were well attended and led to lively discussions.
In addition to giving a talk about their own work, the invited artists also presented an installation in the "Bovenkamer" (Upper Room) for a period of two weeks.
