Named after Alison Kafer's theory, Crip Time surveys the work of disabled artists repudiating time's neurotypical, ableist and capitalist constraints According to Kafer, "crip time" represents the divergent or augmented relationship that people with disabilities have with linear time. Kafer contends, "rather than bend disabled bodies and minds to meet the clock, crip time bends the clock to meet disabled bodies and minds." The exhibition of the same name at the Museum für Moderne Kunst (MMK ) Frankfurt (Sep. 18 2021 -Jan. 30, 2022) was the first museum show to center on artists living with disabilities, 41 in total, who through their work highlight the lived experiences of disabilities visible and invisible. This catalogue includes an extended reader with essays on crip theory and disability studies.
