Guide with the program of DEAF 2003 (25 Feb - 9 Mar) which took place at V2 and various other locations in Rotterdam. DEAF consisted of - a.o. - the conference Understanding Media Art and Research, and the exhibition From Wunderkammer to Meta-Data: how different media shape reality. The DEAF03 program focused on the artistic, political, cultural, social and software-related implications of techniques for data clustering (From Wunderkammer to Meta-Data). The program emphasized the role of interactivity as a method to manipulate, transform and individually shape media realities. DEAF took a fundamental interest in the present: a present which is condensing into an archive before our very eyes. With an interview with Alex Adriaansens, director V2 Institute for the Unstable Media.
