Christine Borland makes art which deals with the body, and with our emotional, imaginative, medical, and institutional sense of self. Her practice is hugely varied – she makes sculpture, installations, photographs and video – yet it is united by a number of constants. This publication brings together the major themes and pre-occupations of a range of work made between 1990 and 2006. Writing includes re-publication of work from books and periodicals during this period as well as an essay by medical historian Ruth Richardson and an interview with Christine Borland by fellow artist and friend Craig Richardson.
