NEWS
In May 2016 the publication Sproken / Fairy Tales won the Silver European Design Award in the category publications.
The jury of the Ouborg Award praises Christie van der Haak for her versatility, for the convincing way in which she operates in the field between art and design, for the great variety of materials and techniques she uses, and for the way she manages to transfer her unwavering spirit and passion to others.
Chairman of the jury Arno van Roosmalen:
"Recently the work Heda (2015) by Christie van der Haak was shown during the international art and design fair Design Miami / Basel. It caught the attention of collectors from all over the world. In 2013 Van der Haak's work was already shown in Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. For the exhibition White Delft - Not Just Blue she designed an installation that created the perfect ambiance for White Delft pottery. In the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam Van der Haak created an impressive style room as part of the exhibition Painting Adrift (2014). And recently Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden commissioned her to to design New Leiden Laken, that will go into production when this Leiden museum re-opens. This selection from the recent past illustrates Christie van der Haak's range and scope, both geographically and institutionally.
And it is exactly on the basis of these criteria, the quality of the body of work and its local and international importance, that the Ouborg Award is given to artists from The Hague. The jury was unanimous in presenting the Ouborg Award 2015 to Christie van der Haak. Their choice was reinforced even more by their appreciation of her inspiring and stimulating influence upon several generations of artists she taught at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague."
