Raul Ortega Ayala: ‘The Last Supper'
The performance ‘The Last Supper' explores the limits between the secular and the sacred. With the participation of twelve exhibition-goers on a first-come first-served basis, Raul Ortega Ayala meticulously recreated the ‘original' meal and enacted the surrounding rituals as allegedly experienced by the Twelve Apostles according to the research of food historian Daniel Rogov. The remains of the performance are left in the exhibition space together with the video documentation of the event, each recipe and a description of where the ingredients were found. This installation will be part of the exhibition 'Living Remains' which opens on September 11 and runs until November 7, 2010.
