Part of Stroom School Display Show

The Italian architects Carlo Scarpa and Franco Albini are two of the most influential innovators in the field of exhibition design. Their work is a reference for Display Show, and is also closely linked to Lina Bo Bardi's ideas about exhibition design. Graham Ellard and Stephen Johnstone (UK) did research into the work of the two masters and also made two films: Neue Museen (2011) about Franco Albini and Everything Made Bronze (2013) about one of Carlo Scarpa's most famous buildings, the Gipsoteca in Possagno, Italy.

In their lecture 'Franco Albini, Carlo Scarpa and the Museum of Floating Objects' Graham Ellard and Stephen Johnstone will tell more about their work.

Neue Museen (2011)
A film by Graham Ellard and Stephen Johnstone
Neue Museen is a 16mm film about the radical, modernist exhibition designs of Italian post-war architect Franco Albini and his collaboration with museum director Caterina Marcenaro in the early 1950s. The film is shot in the galleries of the Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Rosso, and the Museo di Sant'Agostino, in Genoa.

Everything Made Bronze (2013)
A film by Graham Ellard and Stephen Johnstone
Everything Made Bronze makes compelling use of one of the most renowned buildings of architect Carlo Scarpa , the Gipsoteca plaster-cast gallery in the Museo Canova in Possagno, Northern Italy. Shot using a static camera, the film follows the play of light in the Gipsoteca over a number of days as it produces a constantly fluid and changing environment for the appreciation of Canova's plaster-casts and small-scale terracotta maquettes.

The films will be screened during the change-over period of 3 weeks, when Display Show transforms into Another Reality. After Lina Bo Bardi (from 6 April 2016).
