Daan Liu's (1987, Goirle) main subject is the material concerning photographic practice. He creates objects with dimensional confusion, where the light-sensitive material is at the same time the image-maker as well as the imagined. Photography is a process with multiple variables and for Daan Liu it depends on chance of operation; while at the same time following a self-imposed set of rules.

In Crease (repair) he explores the tension between the image and the object. By playing with the photographic process and the light-sensitive material he questions the definition of the photograph as a two-dimensional document that tells the truth. He intervenes during the manual printing of the image. This physical act has an effect on the image and creates interaction.

The work deals with the codes and the actions by which a photograph can be shaped and distorted. The image is dispersed, and later on reconstructed. By means of this one-time collision the objects find their authenticity.
