During Museumnacht Den Haag on Saturday 8 October 2022, a video program will be screened in the entrance space of Stroom Den Haag, with work by new artists and makers from The Hague who respond to the theme of this event. Are you intrinsically involved with themes related to kinship, ecology, climate change and decolonization? Are you studying at the KABK (BA or MA), or have you graduated within the last 5 years? In order for your work to be selected for this evening we invite you to submit a video work that relates to the theme of the exhibition From the Sea to the Clouds to the Soil.
 
The selected videos will be rewarded with a fee of € 140,- (excl. VAT).
 
From The Sea to the Clouds to the Soil
From the Sea to the Clouds to the Soil on view from 1 October to 18 December 2022) offers unexpected angles to raise awareness of the symbiotic relationship between all forms of life. The group exhibition invites you to think radically differently and literally look at the world around us from a different perspective ... from the sea, the clouds, the soil.
Featuring work by Risk Hazekamp (in collaboration with Lars van Vianen), Femke Herregraven, Urok Shirhan, Yeon Sung and Natasha Tontey.

If you have a video work related to this theme and would like to respond to the theme with your short single channel video work, your work is eligible to be included in a program of short films during the Museumnacht at Stroom Den Haag.
 
How do you qualify?
- You respond to the theme of From The Sea to the Clouds to the Soil.
- You are studying at the KABK, or have graduated from the KABK within the last 5 years
- You have a work that can be shown as a stand-alone, single-channel video, such as: a short film, experimental video, digital moving image/collage with sound, videoclips, animations, etc.
NOTE: For this occasion we do NOT select: gifs/screensavers, internet works, installations or videos shown inextricably within an installation, interactive works, performance registrations, or multi-channel works.
- The work you submit may be new/old, existing/adapted, work in progress or completed.
- If language is spoken in the video, we recommend adding a subtitle in English.
- The length of the video is min. 30 seconds and max. 40 minutes.
 
Send an email with your name, the major and year of graduation, plus the title of your video work along with a brief description and an online viewing link to: opencall@stroom.nl with in the subject line 'Open Call: From The Sea to the Clouds to the Soil'.

What happens during the Museumnacht event?
The program on Saturday 8 October (20:00 - 00:00 hrs) consists of an evening viewing of the group exhibition From the Sea to the Clouds to the Soil. In addition the five selected videos will be screened in the entrance space of Stroom, in a loop and in an order yet to be determined, by means of a large wall projection with a high quality beamer and sound system.
