As an extension of the monthly studio visit program, Stroom initiated the Digital Dialogues, in which artists from The Hague enter into online discussions with an interesting artist, writer or curator. You can now apply for the third edition with the editor-in-chief of Mister Motley, Lieneke Hulshof.

On Thursday 9 July or Friday 10 July 2020 the program maker and teacher Lieneke Hulshof will conduct talks via Skype or Zoom with artists in The Hague, about their  artistic practice.

Her fields of interest are:
"Art is never separate from life, but shines a light on the our everyday world. When it comes to works of art, I don't care what form or shape they take. Whether they are paintings, sculptures, videos, installations or texts on paper. I am most interested in works in which form and content come together and which emerge from looking at and studying the world around us. And I always look at the body of work of an artist. I like it when certain works that may seem incomprehensible at first glance fall into place because of other works the artist has made. By this I don't mean that an artist has to stick to the same theme during his or her entire career, but that the works of art are somehow connected. That a drawing from 2011 can say something about a video from 2017, which in turn may be the inspired by a line of poetry from 2008. I like artistic practices in which the artist's perception becomes visible through the various works that form part of a his or her oeuvre. In addition, I have a specific interest in language and I find it interesting that language not only describes our world, but also helps to shape it."

About Digital Dialogues
On a regular basis Stroom invites curators, artists and critics from The Netherlands and abroad to visit the studios of artists in The Hague. These studio vistis offer an opportunity for artists to present their work and receive contructive feedback on their practice. The program also aims is to strengthen and broaden the artists' network.

The studio visiting program has been paused, because traveling and physical encounters are temporarily discouraged due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. As an alternative Stroom initiates a series of Digital Dialogues.
