Jan Snoeck, La nostalgie de la lumière totale, Paul Eluard, 2000

Center of The Hague: Spui - Grote Markstraat - Kalvermarkt

Part of The Sculpture Gallery

The worm is the simplest form one can create from clay. In the eyes of Jan Snoeck (1927) this archetypal shape refers to both human beings ánd the divine. His sculptures are about the essence of mankind. Like people his worms lie down, stand up, sit and walk. In this sculpture the worm is sitting comfortably on a chair. The poetic title The nostalgia of total light comes from the poem by the French author/poet Paul Eluard.
