Aanmoedigingsprijs 2015

Abel Wolff

Each year the Stroom Den Haag Aanmoedigingsprijs (Encouragment Award) is given to selected student(s) as a special incentive upon their graduation from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK).

In 2015 the award of € 2.000,- goes to Abel Wolff and Honorable mentions of € 500,- are given to Menno de Bruijn and Anne Kranenborg.

Abel Wolff (department of Fine Arts) won the Stroom Aanmoedigingsprijs 2015 with his installation of a closed circuit of analogue equipment from the 70s and digital equipment of today. The work is a subtle commentary on topics like authenticity and reproduction. But most of all his installation is a visual adventure.

There is an honorable mention for Menno de Bruijn (the department Graphic Design) for 'Money, Politics and Bananas', a provocative presentation about 'anything but football'.

A second honorable mention goes to Anne Kranenborg from the department Interior Architecture & Furniture Design. She questions the conventions of the field she works in, combining research, functionality and form.

Jury 2015
The independent jury consisted of: gallerist Jaring Dürst Britt (gallery Dürst Britt Mayhew), artist Femmy Otten, curator Saskia van Stein (director Bureau Europa Maastricht) and teacher/designer Adriaan Mellegers.
