In his work Koos Breen expresses an ongoing fascination for form and its potentialities. He holds a degree in Graphic Design, but enjoys experimenting within its boundaries and thereby confronts the limits of the discipline. He may use graphic design as a starting point of a project, but might as well move into several different forms of practice related to autonomous expression and fine arts. He creates Form; and often this Form dictates his work's Content - instead of the usual, other way around. Its conception is constituted by a formal research, nevertheless might turn out to become an artistic endeavour. His method of working is termed Associative Morphology and can generally be considered as a quite straightforward mode of working: whatever one form reminds him of, directly inspires him to create the next: MORF FROM FORM FROM MORF. This method might seem overly simple and perhaps somewhat naive in the face of today's domination of the concept-driven art world, nonetheless Koos Breen's ways of working welcome new manners of looking, and create new possibilities concerning the procedures of thinking about form and matter.

Territories 2.0 is part of that chain of works. From the material (marble) new imaginary landscapes arise which are then morphed into something resembling a city. The centerpoint of this installation is a film that plays in a never-ending loop. The sense of fixed form, scale and time is challenged by the fairly strange and continuously changing perspective; before our eyes it morphs from object into city into planet into two-dimensional plan - and back. All the way accompanied by the intense choral sound of the Path of Miracles by Joby Talbot, sung by the Tenebrae Choir; referring to multilinguality and pelgrimage, turning it into a transformative journey of association.
