OpZicht is a presentation space in the lobby of Stroom Den Haag for newly
registered artists from The Hague. The wall unit functions as a stand or
platform where the artist can share his or her work, passion or
interest with the audience. Each presentation runs for approximately 7 weeks.

Marit Mihklepp (Tallinn, Estonia, 1985) graduated from the ArtScience MA program of the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2015. During her studies she started experimenting with and mapping forgotten forms of communication: interviewing a chair, conversing with a slime mould, collaborating with microbes.
She is fascinated by the outskirts of our experiences and the behavioural patterns of our everyday lives. It appears that the most interesting things happen on the ‘borders' of our skin, our communication, our countries, our minds. The essence is not necessarily central or in the center, and is not necessarily visible or possible.
The work that you can see and experience at Stroom began as an unexpected turn in a conversation about another project. After hearing that not everyone flies vertically in their dreams, the artist started to collect dreams connected to flying, floating or falling. This collection may be the start of an archive for dreams of flying, or how humans experience the impossible. Being in the middle of a process and not exactly knowing where one is going, can be the most beautiful and the most horrible sensation there is.
