Oproep inschrijving atelierbezoek Manuel Segade op 13 en 14 oktober 2017

Op vrijdag 13 en zaterdag 14 oktober 2017 zal Manuel Segade - directeur CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Móstoles in Madrid een aantal atelierbezoeken afleggen bij kunstenaars in Den Haag.

Onderstaand een korte omschrijving van de interessegebieden van de curator.
"I'm interested in performance art, video, photography, sculpture, installation and relational or community engaged projects. My fields of interest are decolonial and gender theory, popular culture, political representation and art and research."

Als je geïnteresseerd bent in een atelierbezoek van Manuel Segade kun je dat uiterlijk vrijdag 29 september a.s. laten weten. Wij vragen je via de link: https://nl.surveymonkey.com/r/Atelierbezoeken je interesse voor een atelierbezoek te motiveren. De binnengekomen reacties worden samen met eventuele suggesties vanuit Stroom aan de curator voorgelegd. Uit de lijst zal de curator een keuze maken op basis waarvan het bezoekprogramma zal worden samengesteld. Je ontvangt alleen een bericht wanneer je door de curator bent geselecteerd voor een atelierbezoek.

Beknopte biografie van de curator
Manuel Segade is the director of CA2M (Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Móstoles in Madrid, Spain) since December 2015. Segade has a BI in History of Art from the University of Santiago de Compostela. His dissertation was a review on theatricality and allegorical linguistic structures in the sculpture from the 1980s through the work of Juan Muñoz. Since 1998 he works in fragments of a cultural history of aesthetical practices of the end of the XIXth Century, around the production of a somatic and sexualized subjectivity, about what he published the essay "Narciso Fin de Siglo" (Melusina, 2008). In 2005 and 2006 he served as content coordinator for the Metrònom Fundació Rafael Tous d'Art Contemporani in Barcelona. From 2007 to 2009 he was a curator of the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea in Santiago de Compostela. In 2009 he resumed his freelance activity as a researcher and independent curator producing and curating projects for La Casa Encendida, ARCO, MUSAC, Centre d'Art La Panera or TENT. He has curated the Spanish Pavilion in the last edition of the Biennale di Venezia.

Over CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Móstoles in Madrid, Spanje
CA2M is a contemporary art museum belonging to the Community of Madrid. It opened in Mósteles in May 2008 to coincide with the commemorations for the bicentenary of the Bando de Móstoles, a declaration of war signed by the mayors of Mósteles which marked the beginning of the Dos de Mayo (2nd May) uprising against the Napoleonic occupation of Spain. In the relatively short time since it opened, CA2M has gone on to become a key agent in articulating the narratives of contemporary Spanish art. Providing opportunities for intellectual leisure and continuously stimulating curiosity, CA2M has a mandate to affirm the present or, put another way, to question it. Dedicated to cultural experimentation, the art centre examines many basic issues, such as: the meaning of art in today's culture and society; the political effectiveness of art and culture; alternatives to conventional models of working with art; an analysis of the art institution's role in perpetuating symbolic and economic power relations; education as a process of ongoing investigation; concepts related with community life and, more specifically, the role of the periphery in major cities today. CA2M's location in Móstoles allows it to question the complex definition of the metropolis and its role in contemporary culture, by articulating its bond with its surrounding environs in the south of the Community of Madrid, albeit with a vocation to reach beyond these boundaries. For this reason the relationship with its audiences is one of CA2M's chief concerns. Given its geopolitical position in the south of Madrid—its cultural offer is within the immediate reach of over one million inhabitants and, in a slighter wider radius, of the five million inhabitants in the region—the centre is fully engaged with innovative mediation strategies to ensure that art fulfils its function as an intellectual stimulus in contemporary culture and society.

Over het Stroom atelierbezoekprogramma
Stroom nodigt sinds 2006 regelmatig curatoren, kunstenaars en critici uit binnen- en buitenland uit om atelierbezoeken af te leggen bij Haagse kunstenaars. Het atelierbezoek biedt de kunstenaar de gelegenheid om zich met zijn/ haar werk te presenteren. Het vormt een gelegenheid tot opbouwende kritische reflectie op het werk in een gedachtenwisseling met een gekwalificeerde expert. En in het verlengde hiervan wordt natuurlijk de bekendheid met het werk gestimuleerd.
