Artist statement: Bram De Jonghe (Premium)

My images pose questions; they generate a mental storm of images. Some questions are open, and are stated without any depth. Other questions stop when the question is stated. Associations my work triggers on diverse levels, encourage the viewer to look and think - like a child who looks at things in an autonomous and naive way without understanding the solutions adults offer. Central in my work is the ‘macguyverian' search for visual expressions that behave like poetic contemplation mixed with practical concerns. The visual residue is shaped by the do-it-yourself mentality. I embrace the peculiar visualisations of complex ideas, I find, this quality humanises beauty. .
