De eerste Stroom Bibliotheek Sessie op dinsdagmiddag 6 december 2011 had als hoofdgast de fotograaf Johan Nieuwenhuize uit Den Haag. Hij presenteerde zijn eerste fotoboek ‘Made in China' dat het resultaat is van een verblijf in Beijing als artist in residence van het Three Shadows Photography Art Center. Hij combineert in dit boek abstracte beelden van de lucht, met documentaire stillevens en zelfportretten.
Johan Nieuwenhuize (1980) behaalde in 2006 zijn bachelor fotografie aan de KABK te Den Haag. Hij exposeerde sindsdien onder andere in Galerie van Kranendonk in Den Haag, op Art Rotterdam, in het Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing en in de Kabinetten van de Vleeshal in Middelburg.

The way in which the basic necessity of life is given shape in the shelters is the 'leitmotif' in the documentary photography project that Henk Wildschut started up late 2005 and for which he frequently travelled to Calais, southern Spain, Dunkirk, Malta, Patras and Rome. For Wildschut, the sight of the shelter - anywhere in Europe - became the symbol of misery. While shelters reveal little or nothing about the wellbeing of their residents, they still become models for the larger, underlying story - one full of violence, fear, desire, courage, sadness and anxiety. In a documentary sense, the shelters cannot pretend to be anything else than what they actually are. This indirect portrayal originates in the moral despair of the photographer: how to depict a humanitarian problem in images without clichés?

De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig
Deze groep bestaat uit rappers Willie Wartaal, Vieze Fur en P. Fabergé en vaste producer Bas Bron. In november 2010 verscheen het meest recente album van De Jeugd, De lachende derde. Inmiddels zijn ze ook al weer achter in de twintig. Nog even mesjogge en oversekst, maar kampend met opflakkerende bezinning. In regels over boodschappen doen bij de Appie, de Blokker en de woonboulevard klinkt zelfspot door, maar ook opluchting. 'Altijd maar slecht gaan is hard werken.'
