Aron Lodi - Metallurgia in 1111 Galery in Boedapest t/m 28 maart 2024
Aron Lodi is grafisch ontwerper en beeldend kunstenaar. Via design, tekst en multimedia-installaties probeert hij nieuwe manieren te vinden om met de huidige ideologische en politieke situatie in de wereld om te gaan. Van 28 februari t/m 28 maart heeft hij een solo presentatie getiteld Metallurgia in 1111 Galery in Boedapest (HU). De solo wordt ondersteund via de SPOT Individueel regeling van Stroom.

Suzanne Schols - LOBBY t/m 1 september 2024
In de publicatie LOBBY - Between green deals and ideals neemt Schols je mee door een labyrint van lobbies in de politieke hoofdstad van Europa. Dagelijks lopen duizenden lobbyisten door deze ruimtes en buigen zich over diverse klimaatvoorstellen om deze te beïnvloeden. Schols biedt een blik achter de schermen en poogt met een artistieke benadering de lobbywereld transparanter te maken. De publicatie is tot stand gekomen met de steun van een PRO Kunstprojecten subsidie en ook in onze bookshop te koop. In het Fotomuseum is t/m 17 maart 2024 een tentoonstelling over het project te zien.

Luis Maly - Wind Turbine Retirement Party

Luis Maly onderzoekt in dit project functionerende windturbine installaties in Nederland en niet-functionerende windturbines in Zuid-Evia, Griekenland. Met de hulp van fotografie en film creëert hij een performatieve multimedia-installatie. Doel is om bewustzijn te creëren, duurzame oplossingen en zinvolle dialoog en actie aan te moedigen over klimaatverandering. Maly's werk wordt ondersteund door een PRO Kunstprojecten subsidie.

Fully Worktioning / Harriet Rose Morley@The Balcony

De tentoonstelling Fully Worktioning verbindt ideeën over werken met die van het functioneren als lid van de maatschappij. Harriet Rose Morley maakt deel uit van deze presentatie bij kunstenaarsinitiatief The Balcony. De tentoonstelling is mede ondersteund door een PRO Kunstprogramma subsidie. Morley werd tijdens haar onderzoeksproject Hard Work, Soft Work ondersteund door een PRO Invest subsidie. Zij is ook één van de deelnemers aan de Invest Week in september.

The exhibition 'Fully Worktioning' connects ideas about working with those of functioning as a member of society. Harriet Rose Morley is part of this presentation at artist initiative The Balcony. The exhibition was supported in part by a PRO Art Program grant. Morley was supported by a PRO Invest grant for her research project 'Hard Work, Soft Work'. She is also one of the participants in Invest Week in September.

Zeger Reyers@Voorhout Monumentaal

Zeger Reyers heeft voor zijn bijdrage aan de openluchttentoonstelling Voorhout Monumentaal een opvallend kunstwerk gerealiseerd in de vorm van bewegwijzeringsborden. De borden verwijzen respectievelijk naar ‘Den Haag/Cultuur' en de afslag ‘Vanaf hier mag Alles'. De kunstenaar ontving ter ondersteuning van dit project een PRO Kunstprojecten subsidie.

For his contribution to the open-air exhibition 'Voorhout Monumentaal' artist Zeger Reyers has realized a striking work of art in the form of signposts; which respectively refer to 'Den Haag/Cultuur' and the exit to 'Vanaf hier mag Alles'. In support of this project, the artist received a PRO Art Projects grant.

Van Stuijvenberg is gefascineerd door plekken waar mens en natuur met elkaar verweven zijn. In Haarlem is haar werk Maalstroom etude M te zien. Een oude houtmolen midden in de Noorse bossen als symbool voor gestolde tijd. Balancerend tussen eeuwenoud hout en de draaikolk van de vluchtigheid van dit moment. Van Stuijvenberg ontving ter ondersteuning van dit project een subsidie SPOT Individuele Tentoonstelling.

Van Stuijvenberg is fascinated by places where man and nature are intertwined. On view in Haarlem is her work 'Maalstroom etude M'. An old wood mill in the middle of the Norwegian forests as a symbol of solidified time. Balancing between ancient wood and the whirlpool of the fleetingness of this moment. Van Stuijvenberg received a SPOT Individual Exhibition grant in support of this project.

The Automatic Self (and the gifted hand)@Quartair

In hoeverre spelen omstandigheden, toeval en automatische mechanismen een rol in het werk van een 'tekenaar'? En wat gebeurt er als je het tekenen laat uitvoeren door een machine? De tentoonstelling toont werk op het snijvlak van het controleerbare en oncontroleerbare en geeft inzicht in dit spanningsveld. Kunstenaarsinitiatief Quartair ontving voor dit project een bijdrage vanuit de subsidieregeling SPOT Groepstentoonstelling.

To what extent do circumstances, chance and automatic mechanisms play a role in the work of a "draughtsman"? And what happens when you let a machine do the drawing? The exhibition shows work on the cutting edge of the controllable and uncontrollable and provides insight into this area of tension. Artist initiative Quartair received a grant for this project from the SPOT Group Exhibition subsidy scheme.

Bram de Jonghe @Haagse Hogeschool
Afgelopen jaar kwam Bram De Jonghe als winnaar uit de bus voor de JUST A FEW SECONDS Kunstopdracht 2022. Met dit initiatief wil De Haagse Hogeschool diens gemeenschap betrekken bij haar kunstcollectie. Met grote meerderheid kozen de studenten voor het voorstel van De Jonghe - wat het onderzoek en de realisatie van twee nieuwe werken in gang zette; Verzegelde Regen en Mosselwerken. Met als resultaat: twee intrigerende en absurdistische werken als constante metgezellen tijdens hun studie. De Jonghe werd voor een werkperiode ondersteund door de Pro Premium subsidie, in deze periode is dit project ook tot stand gekomen.

Last year, Bram De Jonghe emerged as the winner of the JUST A FEW SECONDS art commission 2022. With this initiative, The Hague University of Applied Sciences involves its community in shaping its art collection. By a large majority, the students voted for De Jonghe's works; Sealed Rain and Mussel Works. The result: two intriguing and absurdist works as constant companions during their studies. De Jonghe received a Pro Premium grant for a working period, this project was realized within this timeframe.

Mariska de Groot @ Vita Kuben - Umeå, Zweden
Het vinden van een oude muzikale bromtol op een rommelmarkt was de start van wat later de installatie BROM zou worden. Mariska de Groots fascinatie voor het kleurrijke kinderspeelgoed vloeide voort in haar onderzoek naar de melodieën, patenten en de geschiedenis van de tol. In Vita Kuben zingt het werk van De Groot nu een geheel eigen melodie in een koor vol gemotoriseerde tollen. Als onderdeel van de driedelige reeks SUPERORGANISMS zal BROM te zien zijn in Norrlandsoperan Vita Kuben in Umeå, Zweden. Deze tentoonstelling wordt ondersteund met een bijdrage van de SPOT Individuele Tentoonstellingen subsidie. Te zien: 10 maart - 16 april 2023.

Finding an old spinning choral humming top at a flea market ignited the spark of what soon would become the installation, BROM. Mariska de Groot's fascination with the colorful children's toy turned into an in-depth research of the toy's melodies, patents and history. At Vita Kuben, De Groot's work now hums its own melody in a full choir of motorized spinning tops. As part of the SUPERORGANISMS series of three works, BROM will be shown at Norrlandsoperan Vita Kuben in Umeå, Sweden. This exhibition is supported by a contribution from the SPOT Individual Exhibition grant. On view: 10 March - 16 April 2023.

WEED @ Muzee Scheveningen
Kan zeewier de toekomst van Scheveningen zijn? In de tentoonstelling WEED ontdek je hoe kunstenaars, designers en ondernemers zich lieten inspireren door deze ‘superheld uit zee'. Suzette Bousema toont nieuwe installaties voor haar project Dead Zones waarin ze de filterende eigenschappen van zeewier onderzoekt. Haar werk is mede mogelijk gemaakt door een PRO Invest subsidie. In de tentoonstelling toont ook Haagse kunstenaar Nienke Hoogvliet haar werk, waarin ze laat zien hoe zeewier gebruikt kan worden als textielkleurstof. Te zien tot 25 juni 2023.
Can seaweed be the future of Scheveningen? In the exhibition WEED you will discover how artists, designers and entrepreneurs were inspired by this 'superhero from the sea'. Suzette Bousema shows new installations for her project 'Dead Zones' in which she investigates the filtering properties of seaweed. Bousema's work is made possible by a PRO Invest grant. In the same exhibition Nienke Hoogvliet shows how seaweed can be used as a textile dye. On view until 25 June 2023.

The Plantriarchy @ Hotel Mariakapel
The Plantriarchy is een driedelige film van Bernice Nauta en Gijsje Heemskerk, over een invasieve plant. In Hoorn is de kapel getransformeerd in een levensgroot decor dat fungeert als set voor het eerste hoofdstuk van de film, waarin het leven van planten door het verleden, heden en toekomst wordt gevolgd. Hoe zijn planten terecht gekomen op plaatsen waar ze uitheems zijn en zelfs als 'invasief' worden beschouwd? En hoe zit het dan met mensen? De presentatie is mede mogelijk gemaakt door een PRO Kunstprojecten subsidie. Te zien: 24 februari t/m 11 maart 2023
The Plantriarchy is a three-part film by Bernice Nauta and Gijsje Heemskerk, about an invasive plant. In Hoorn, they have transformed the chapel into a life-size backdrop that serves as a set for the first chapter of the film, in which the life of plants is followed through the past, present and future. How did plants end up in places where they are alien and even considered 'invasive'? And what about people? This exhibition was supported with a PRO Art Projects grant. Daniele Formica @ CASTRO Roma
Voor 4 maanden is Haagse kunstenaar Daniele Formica als Fellow uitgenodigd bij CASTRO in Rome. Tijdens zijn fellowship onderzocht hij de mogelijkheden voor nieuw - op Rome gebaseerd - werk dat balanceert tussen La Lupa (stichtingsmythe), klassieke fantasmagorie, ‘La Divina Mimesis' (Pasolini,1975) en ‘Il Fascismo Eterno' (Eco,2015). Formica's onderzoek en fellowship is ondersteund met een PRO Onderzoek subsidie.
For 4 months The Hague-based artist Daniele Formica has been invited as a Fellow at CASTRO in Rome. Telephone @ NEST
Met de duotentoonstelling Telephone presenteert Nest het werk van schilder Philip Akkerman en muzikant Jameszoo (Mitchel van Dinther) in een surrealistische choreografie; waar Akkermans 350 zelfportretten de verbinding aangaan met de synthesizers en muziekcomposities van Jameszoo. Deze tentoonstelling werd ondersteund met een PRO Kunstprojecten subsidie. Te zien 25 november t/m 29 januari 2023
