Oproep inschrijving atelierbezoek Rosa de Graaf & Vivian Ziherl op 27 en 28 november 2019

Op woensdag 27 en donderdag 28 november a.s. zullen Rosa de Graaf en Vivian Ziherl, curatoren van Witte de With Centre for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam een aantal atelierbezoeken afleggen bij kunstenaars in Den Haag.

Uit de lijst zullen zij een keuze maken op basis waarvan het bezoekprogramma zal worden samengesteld. Rosa de Graaf (UK/NL) is Associate Curator at Witte de With since 2017. Alongside her role at Witte de With, Rosa is an advisor at the multiform institute for fine art, design, and reflection, the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, the Netherlands (2019-2020). Starting out with a background in fine art practice at University of the Arts London, Rosa trained in Social and Critical Histories of Art at the University of Leeds before completing her Masters in Arts & Culture at the University of Leiden, 2017. Previously, she worked at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (SMBA) and Tate Modern, Tate Britain, and the Henry Moore Institute, as well as for large-scale cultural campaigns such as Art Everywhere UK. Recent exhibitions Rosa has curated at Witte de With together with Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy include: Rossella Biscotti, new work, and Alejandro Cesarco, a solo exhibition (September 8 - January 5, 2020), Cecilia Vicuña, a retrospective exhibition developed with curator Miguel A. López (May 26 - November 21, 2019), Rotterdam Cultural Histories: How does one get from Salvador Allende Straat to Andre van der Louw Bridge (April 7 - October 6, 2019), Lawrence Abu Hamdan, a solo exhibition (January 27 - April 28, 2019), Firelei Báez, new work (January 27 - May 12, 2019), Ana María Millán, a solo exhibition (September 9, 2018 - January 13, 2019), An exhibition with art installations by Susana Mejía, Pamela Rosenkranz, and Anicka Yi (May 6 - August 19, 2018), Teresa Margolles, a new work (May 6 - August 26, 2018), and, upcoming: Alia Farid, new work (January 19 - April 26, 2020).

Vivian Ziherl (AUS) is a critic, curator and researcher of contemporary art, raised in Australia and working in the Netherlands. From 2016 - 2019 she was the founder and director of art and research foundation Frontier Imaginaries that staged internationally mobile thematic editions through exhibitions, art-commissions and symposium projects together with program partners including Columbia University, e-flux Projects, the Institute of Modern Art (Brisbane), the QUT Art Museum and the Van Abbemuseum among others. In 2017 she co-convened Humans of the Institution with Anne Szefer Karlsen, a project dedicated to mobilizing international action on the conditions of the freelancer, presented together with the University of Bergen, Veem Huis voor Performance, Amsterdam Art Weekend and Dutch Art Institute. She was curator of Jerusalem Show VIII (2016) with the Al Ma'mal Foundation and as part of the 3rd Qalandiya International, was nominated for the ICI Independent Vision Curatorial Award (2016), and received curatorial fellowships from the IMA Brisbane (2015-16), and Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art together with Natasha Ginwala (2013). From 2012 to 2014 she was a Curator with performance based institution If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want to Be Part of Your Revolution, and in 2012 and 2013 she was a guest curator of Stage It! Parts 1 & 2 which launched the performance programme of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam upon its re-opening. Ziherl is a PhD candidate in Curatorial Practice at Monash University, Melbourne.
