Eja Siepman van den Berg, Nike, 1993

Center of The Hague: Spui - Grote Markstraat - Kalvermarkt

Part of The Sculpture Gallery

No head, no arms and no legs. This incomplete body is a perfect representation of emotions and tensions. It was the outcome of a quest by Eja Siepman van den Berg (1943) for the essence of the human body. This sculpture shows us the sensual torso of a young woman. She stands perfectly still. The perfect finish exudes the purity of a young and confident life. Invincible, just like Nike, the Greek goddess.
