Center of The Hague: Spui - Grote Markstraat - Kalvermarkt

Part of The Sculpture Gallery

This is a real sculptor's sculpture. All the attention is drawn to proportions, surface, material and space. In her sculptures Jos Kruit (1945) is always looking for movement and balance. That is why she placed a semi-open cylinder on the pedestal in a slightly slanted angle. And the steering wheel above is also skewed. It seems like the interior space rotates on the pedestal. The sculpture as a whole is not immediately recognizable, despite the associations with steering wheels and masts, car hoods and airplanes.
